Patrick Marchal: Pirateria îi va distruge pe dezvoltatorii de jocuri pentru PC

Patrick Marchal, director tehnic al studiourilor Monte Cristo, a declarat pentru CVG că dezvoltatorii de jocuri pentru PC sunt în pericol din cauza pirateriei, motiv pentru care aceştia trebuie să actualizeze permanent sistemele de protecţie. "Am văzut ce s-a întâmplat cu Spore şi chiar dacă nu suntem fani ai DRM-ului, credem că acest strigăt de nemulţumire a fost un pic exagerat [...] Cred că e timpul ca oamenii să recunoască faptul că pirateria îi va distruge pe dezvoltatorii de jocuri pe PC", a adăugat acesta.
Întrebat despre sistemul de protecţie pentru Cities XL, Marchal a declarat că "Va trebui să găsim cea mai bună modalitate de a ne proteja jocul fără să fim duri cu clienţii legitimi".

Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway şi Soul Calibur 4 sporesc vânzările Ubisoft

Conform unui raport financiar oferit publicităţii, Ubisoft a înregistrat în cel de-al doilea trimestru al acestui an vânzări de 175 milioane Euro, faţă de doar 127 milioane în aceeaşi perioadă a anului trecut.
Vânzările totale ale publisherului francez pentru prima jumătate a anului financiar 2008-2009 sunt de 344 milioane Euro, cu 38.3% mai mult decât în anul precedent.

Compania a declarat că o mare parte din vânzări se datorează first-person shooter-ului Brothers in Arms: Hell`s Highway şi jocului de lupte SoulCalibur IV.
"Ubisoft a oferit o performanţă robustă în cel de-al doilea trimestru fiscal, în ciuda unui mediu nesigur. Verificăm cu grijă şi în mod regulat schimbările din aria financiară, pentru a le include în previziunile si obiectivele noastre financiare," a declarat Yves Guillemot, CEO Ubisoft.

Microsoft nu va lansa Fallout 3 în India

Microsoft India a anulat lansarea RPG-ului Fallout 3 în această ţară, din cauza "particularităţilor culturale" din regiune. Varianta pentru Xbox 360, singura ce urma să fie comercializată, trebuia lansată pe 28 octombrie. Dar Microsoft a declarat că jocul nu va mai ajunge pe rafturile magazinelor, deoarece conţinutul său ar fi putut aduce daune morale Indiei.
"Microsoft se străduieşte mereu să aducă cele mai bune jocuri consumatorilor indieni, în sincronizare cu lansările internaţionale. Totuşi, din cauza particularităţilor culturale din India, am decis să nu distribuim Fallout 3 în aceasă ţară," au declarat reprezentanţii companiei într-un comunicat de presă.
RPG-ul post-apocaliptic produs de Bethesda a mai avut probleme şi în Australia, din cauza prezenţei diverselor denumiri de droguri în cadrul jocului, motiv pentru care toate variantele au fost cenzurate.
